Greens Report – May 2017 Edition

Weather 

22mm of rainfall during May thus far. 
We are starting to experience both cooler day and night temperatures with soil temperatures also decreasing quickly which subsequently lowers growth rates of turf surfaces. 

Greens 

All greens lightly groomed prior to Woolooware cup to improve ball roll and to promote new growth. 
NPK fertiliser applied to enhance growth and colour. 
Kelp product applied to assist in root development 
Preventative fungicide applied to all greens

Greens

* Greens were needle tined with 8mm tines to a depth of 10cm on 7/11/16. This is a cultural practice that will be undertaken monthly during the summer months to reduce stress from hot temperatures on greens by allowing improved air movement in soil profile, increasing water percolation and infiltration, increased gas exchange and reducing compaction of greens surface. There is minimal disruption after coring with greens immediately mowed after.
